Put  y=0

0=x4-2x2-8

(x2-4)(x2+2)=0

(x-2)(x+2)(x2+2)=0


Since  (x2+2) can not be zero (0), then  x=2 and (-2) are the only solution of the equation.


(±2,0) is the x-intercept.
