Put  y=0

0=x4-8x2-9

(x2-9)(x2+1)=0

(x2-32)(x2+1)=0

(x2-3)(x2+3)(x2+1)=0


Since  (x2+1) can not be zero (0), then x=3 and (-3) are the only solution of the equation.


(-9,0) is the x-intercept.
